Mindfulness Workshop for Children 6-9yrs

4-week course, Mondays:
May 11th & 18th
June 1st & 8th

Ages 6yrs to 9yrs (Monday 3PM – 3:45PM)

Energy Exchange: $120

1. Mindfulness to Nature
Using My Magical Garden Book as we Guide the children through each page of the book and building their magical gardens in their imaginations. Discussion on how their Magical Garden made them feel.
Daily Mindful Practice – drawing their magical gardens from their imaginations

2. Checking in with Your Body
Teaching breathing techniques and relaxing mindfulness methods related to their body and their inner emotions. Asking how their bodies feel, interactive talk in a group. (Giving body handouts on chakras)

3. Mindfulness Eating
Connecting the child to Mindfulness Eating, they will be required to bring a piece of fruit to class. (Gratitude of food is the basis of this session) There will be yoga followed by a guided meditation at the end of the class.

4. My Magical Tree
Using Mindfulness Book, My Magical Tree. As we navigate the children through each page building their Magical Tree in their imaginations. Teaching them to have a deeper understanding of themselves and their emotions by using the appendix at the back of the book and guided meditation provided. (Yoga for grounding relates to the Tree)

Our Mindful Child classes are all about gaining the experience of Mindfulness and experiencing, first-hand, its benefits. Giving them life-long mindfulness skills that they need in order to consciously face in daily challenges they encounter while mindfully processing them, whether they are experienced at home or at school.

What is unique about our Mindfulness workshop?

We have based our Mindfulness course around Terri Allen’s Award-Winning Book, My Magical Garden. A unique and powerful well-being tool for children and parents.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the ability to feel one’s feelings and emotions without dramatizing nor minimizing their meaning. Being present, aware and attentive, responding rather than reacting.

Research has shown Mindfulness:

  • Strengthens focus and concentration
  • Decreases stress and anxiety
  • Promotes self-reflection and self-calming
  • Improves impulse control
  • Develops natural conflict resolution skills
  • Improves self-esteem
  • Supports “readiness to learn”

1. Mindfulness to Nature
– Using guided Imagery from My Magical Garden Book. They start to build their connection to nature in their imaginations, through their 5 senses.
– Daily Mindful Practice: To journal daily how they felt before and after connecting to their Magical Gardens in their imagination.

2. Mindfulness to Daily Gratitude
– Using their journals to list all that they are grateful for in their lives at this present time.
– Guided Meditation on Gratitude, Kindness, and Self Love. (Group interaction on this subject)
– Daily Mindful Practice: Acts of kindness to others wither it’s through words, or doing something for someone or a family member, etc.) Write in their journal and how it made them feel.

3. Mind and Body Connection
– Using Mindfulness techniques – checking in with your body and your emotions through guided visualizations and breathing techniques.

4. Tree of Life
– Using My Magical Tree, Mindfulness Book. Taking them through each page of the book, Building their Magical Tree in their imaginations. Teaching
them to have a deeper connection of mind and body. It helps with grounding and centering one into the present moment. Plus a deep understanding of where they are emotionally within themselves.

The Center Method Philosophy

The Center Method is a client-centered collaboration which addresses  relationship problems, stress/burnout, anxiety, depression, addiction, and trauma. Developing awareness of the interconnection between the mind, body, and emotions is essential in the healing process. We use traditional and alternative modalities (including psychotherapy, EMDR, acupuncture, massage, yoga, breathwork, meditation, and nutrition) to build a wellness regimen which best suits individual needs in order to help process and release tension, anger, frustration and other emotions that remain in your body from past negative experiences. Our goal is to help release the stress and pain that may be preventing you from living a fully integrated, well-balanced life.
